Chemical peels can be done on the face, neck, décolleté or hands and are used to treat 3 key skin conditions:-
There are 2 types of peel:
Superficial peels
This is the mildest type of chemical peel and can be used on all skin types. These professional treatments usually contain mild acids (AHA and BHA), most particularly glycolic acid.
Medium peels
This peel penetrates the skin more deeply and causes a visible skin desquamation. TCA is the main peeling agent used in medium peels.
What is a chemical peel & what are the options for treatment?
A chemical peel solution is applied to the skin to accelerate the skin’s natural exfoliation in a controlled way, so that new skin can grow in its place.
Please see below for the various options we have available for chemical skin peels and information about them.
Why should you choose Milk Peel Treatment?
Suitable for the appearance of fine lines, dull complexion and loss of tone:
What are the benefits of a milk peel?
Superficial skin peels penetrate only the uppermost layers of the skin, causing a faster turnover of skin cells to improve the appearance of the skin. They are often described as lunch time peels or advanced facials because they usually cause no redness of the skin and feel just like getting a normal facial, with a bit of tingling!
Depending on which type is used, they can address pigmentation, fine lines, pores and problematic acne. They can also improve the appearance of fine acne scarring. A series of treatments is always recommended and the frequency depends on the peel type, typically intervals of two to four weeks are recommended and four to six peels may be required to achieve the desired result.
ZO Ossential Stimulator Peel by Dr Zein Obagi MD – The Red Carpet Peel
If you’re seriously committed to healthy skin this is the treatment of choice. The ZO Skin Health Ossential Stimulator Peel includes a combination of three different acids (lactic, citric and salicylic) plus potent concentrations of other active ingredients to exfoliate the skin, stimulate the growth of collagen and elastin and reduce wrinkles.
The Ossential® Stimulator Peel
This is often referred to as a “lunch time peel” as there is no downtown, redness or peeling afterwards, just a subtle glow.
It is a superficial skin peel, useful for fine to moderate lines and wrinkles, acne, age spots, uneven pigmentation and rough skin texture.
The peel contains 3 different acids to exfoliate your skin and promote cell turnover: 10% Salicylic Acid, 10% Lactic Acid and 10% Citric Acid. Normally 3-4 peels are recommended to achieve maximum benefits. These can be carried out at 2 weeks intervals.
You do not need to be using other ZO® products to have this peel, but if used with any of the ZO® protocols, it will maximise results. The treatment takes approximately 15 minutes for a stand alone peel, or can be tailored to more specific skin conditions which include:
Acne and Oil Control Treatment –minimize oil production, large pores and inflammation.
Rejuvenation Treatment-restore skin clarity, reduce pigment spots and discoloration.
Skin Brightening Treatment-restore skin clarity, reduce pigment spots and discolouration, pigment spots and discolouration restore skin clarity, reduce pigment spots and discolouration
What are the benefits of the Stimulator Peel?
Who should (and should not) have the Peel? It is generally recommended for adults who are experiencing premature skin aging, photodamage and hyperpigmentation. We do not recommend that the peel be performed on anyone who:
Is there any discomfort in treatment? Unlike chemical peels for which Dr Obagi is well know, the peel is not uncomfortable and does not involve downtime. There may be a mild warming sensation for a few minutes while the peel is being applied.
Is just one peel enough? Most people see dramatic improvement in their skin after one peel. However, a series of 3-4 is generally recommended.
Is this the same as Dr Zein Obagi’s Blue Peel? No, the Obagi Blue Peel was developed by Dr Zein Obagi and is offered by Obagi Medical Products. it is a chemical peel that uses a combination of Trichloracetic Acid (TCA) to penetrate the deeper layers of skin. It is generally performed by a physician and involves an aggressive pre-procedure conditioning programme followed by an 18 week home treatment programme.
