Micro Needling is a treatment that uses a device that has multiple rows of short microsurgical needles for penetrating the skin. This process results in thousands of superficial microscopic channels throughout the entire treatment area. We use the most advanced medical-grade, automated micro-needling device on the market. The micro needling devices are sterile, single-use and surgical-grade.
Micro Needling devices are available with needles of different lengths. These small contact points encourage the body to create a wound healing response and renew the skin cells. As the skin repairs, the production of collagen and elastin is triggered to give an almost immediate plumping effect. During the skin consultation we will advice on which size is best suited for each client and skin concern. The decision is based on the location and severity of the skin condition.
Please do not expose the area to be treated to the sun, sun-beds or artificial tanning products 4 weeks prior to your treatment.

Micro-needling is a safe, chemical-free and minimally invasive technique for stimulating collagen production. Collagen and elastin give skin its texture, structure and appearance. As we age, these compounds break down from sun and environmental damage leading to dry, thin and wrinkled skin. Micro-needling is a mechanical method for reversing this breakdown.
While there are several forms of micro-needling available, here at Orchard Skin Clinic we use the most advanced medical-grade, automated micro-needling device on the market. The micro needling devices are sterile, single-use and surgical-grade.
You will see visible changes from the treatment over the course of several days and weeks. Results can continue to improve up to 6 months after a treatment as collagen production continues. Benefits include diminished appearance of fine lines and acne scars, reduced pore size and an overall improvement in texture and tone.
The aesthetician will first cleanse the skin and then apply a layer of topical numbing gel to eliminate any discomfort. Once the numbing gel takes effect, the gel will be removed and a layer of hydrating gel is applied to treatment area. Using the micro pen, the aesthetician will gently press the pen against the skin while gliding it across each area of your face. This process results in thousands of superficial microscopic channels throughout the entire treatment area. The gel will be removed and for most people, the treatment will be completed within 20 to 30 minutes.
Immediately after the treatment, your skin will be bright red like an intense sunburn. The total healing time depends on the intensity of your treatment. On average, our clients have some redness for 2 to 4 days. For some clients, the redness is gone in as little as 24 hours.
The automated micro-needling device we use moves in a vertical direction for better precision when treating the skin. Dermal rollers do not create a precise vertical action. This lack of precision can contribute to greater discomfort and inconsistent effects to the skin.
Automated micro-needling breaks up pigment mechanically and stimulates the collagen formation without the use of heat. For clients who aren’t ready for laser treatments, micro-needling is an ideal alternative.
The number of sessions you will need depends on your goals. For mild to moderate acne scars, you’ll see the most benefit with three to four treatments. Deeper scars and stretch marks may require up to five treatments. We suggest at least 4 to 6 weeks between treatments when doing a series. Many of our clients have the treatment undertaken every 6 to 12 months for skin resurfacing maintenance and better absorption of anti-aging serums and products.
Micro Needling can be performed on the face, décolleté, neck, chest, body and the hands.
Men and women of all ages who wish to improve their skin tone and texture. can be treated.
A topical numbing cream is applied to the area before carrying out Micro Needling treatments to ensure any pain is minimised. Variable treatment intensities allow us to further control the comfort of the treatment.
A course of Micro Needling treatments is usually necessary depending on the skin condition:
Skin rejuvenation – 3 treatments.
Mild to moderate acne scars – 3 to 4 treatments.
Deeper scars and stretch marks may require up to – 5 to 6 treatments.
Course of Micro needling – 4 to 6 weeks, between treatments Skin resurfacing maintenance every 6 to 12 months and better absorption of anti-ageing serums and products.
Individual results may vary. Individual treatment plan will be discussed at initial consultation.
